Sea whisperer

         

A grey sea today
Thin-lipped and lazy
lapping  

All the more I find
the outer edges of
my shoes suddenly salty.


Leaning in to listen
all the better
to hear the sea's whisperings,
to see the fish surely sleeping,
within the unassuming grey.
